I'm proud to present BACK to my shop,

The OG launch era - first formula - 4 ingredient, dark yellow juiced, oakmoss loaded, pre IFRA regulation - early-00's - CK One Edt!

The holy grail KING/QUEEN of designer Unisex fragrances in its crisp green citrus floral musky oakmoss allure in its nostalgic original formula!

If you know, you know - A total blast from the 1990's past.

An iconic original formula now discontinued from the market & heavily reformulated.

The iconic unisex classic in modern bottles are now & made thinner, cheaper, more synthetic with an off putting burnt plastic smell in replacement of the natural oakmoss utilized decades ago. This results in a money grab not with your investment with reduced projection & smelling nothing like you remembered. Overall if you buy modern you get a gutted, thin, diluted, & degraded fragrance not worth your time. These insulting reformulations are due to IFRA regulations bans that came into effect harshly the last 30 years forcing CK to gut their masterpiece classics.

These IFRA regulations forced companies to stop using naturals, oakmoss fixatives, discontinue endangered ingredients & stop harvesting real musks due to animal rights culture. This perfumery is an encapsulated representation of a vintage time capsule in more ways than one.

Due due what past generations considered an 'EDT' - This deep vintage macerated, pre-IFRA regulated listing resembles most modern day fragrance with EDT like projection and an EDP like depth and richness. This is super thick & potent & far more worth the price per ml. given the richer quality, non regulations, & extended performance.

This is a rich potent niche quality and natural smelling zippy bergamot, lemon, jasmine, violet, grassy, musky, oakmoss BEAST. There isn't anything like this nowadays. Incredibly high quality, sexy, & head turning in a endless parade of modern ambroxan cupcake gourmands.
8-10-12 hour + sillage & strength!

This highly sought after first formula continues to be swept off the shelves by reputable trusted resale shops by collectors like myself. A best seller & personal favorite in the Guardian of the Fragrances shop.

(ALL ABOUT CK ONE EDT)

Wardrobe category is!;
White loafers after labor day at the 90's white party.
Unisex cologne mandatory!

The relevancy of this 32 year old fragrance continues in the fragrance community to this day.

Still No designer fragrance on the shelves today compares to the king of unisex fragrances from the house of Calvin Klein in its vintage era.

Despite all it's flankers- The original vintage version is still the OG and is the only CK One to have the highest tier of ingredients prior to oakmoss IFRA bans.

CK One's note composition is nostalgic to this day.

Something about the mix of freshness, citrus, florals, earthiness, and animalics

A fresh citrus, salty, sweet, sexy BOMB! On both men and women!

Unfortunately,

They don't make them like they did before.

In newer formulations of CK One Eau de toilette; Its more citrus centered to distract you from how watered down the base is, the original oakmossy musks in the base are non present with in replacement a generic scratchy aromachemical in modern batches. The newer Coty versions have a off-putting smell of synthetic burnt plastic in the base - i've experienced this myself and its not good. They clearly didn't want to bring the original formula back. Overall the fragrance has a flatter & weaker generic fresh vibe to it. Those that deny it are just 'defending' their modern bottles they invested into lol. The scent has lost its character and original direction. CK One was NOT a freshie! It was a daring unisex citrus chypre like fragrance

Even if they wanted to, Calvin Klein can no longer pull off the original formulas due to IFRA ingredient bans & an overall lack of focus on the original classics with perfume budgets turned more toward more modern popular selling releases. You simply cannot replicate original vintage formulas due to IFRA - and all designer brands continue to prove this by releasing their laughable modern formulas.

Fortunately,

At Guardian of the Fragrances, it is my mission to 'undo' all that, take you back into past by offering fragrances from their golden eras, and most of all offer passion and transparency in everything I do.

With me, you get a selection of unalerted, well preserved, authentic, relics from the past in their original intended vision of quality, and strength.

With my passion in the art of perfumery, natural based ingredients, and a distain for all organizational overreach regulation & mandates; I make it my passion & joy to bring well preserved, authentic, & superior collectible formulas to my shop to share with the world.

With that said I bring you vintage CK One EDT.

This is truly a must have collectible and store staple with Gurardian of the Fragrances and I am proud to present it to my store

Batch year: 2001
Formula: First formula
Batch confirmed by: 10 year repeating batch code skip traced back to 2001, "Calvin Klein Cosmetics Co." distributer, vintage style bottle font, dark juice color alluding to more naturals pre IFRA bans, missing POA (Period after opening) symbol mandated in 2005; making anything over 2001 impossible, and of course the richer oakmossy DNA from the original batches.
I research extensively spending days-months-years of personal research as a vintage perfume hobbyist & passionate fragrance seller only to bring you nothing but accurate details & the most helpful information to make your final purchase.
Send me an email if you have additional questions about my dating process.

THE TRUTH ABOUT BATCH RUN WEBSITES - THEY GAS LIGHT YOU TO APPEAR CREDIBLE:
Vintage fragrances are well known to give errors on batch code sites to place the year. Vintage batch codes are either missing, will commonly not work on batch check websites, OR repeat every 8-10 years & mislabel the timeline.
As a counterfeit investigator & quality appraiser for 10 years in my career of Revenue Protection; these quirks are what drew me to research bottles by means bottle features, distributer history, zip codes, juice color, overall label information, & lastly the scent itself for accurate transparency - at least far more accurate than a shifty batch site.

(COLLECTOR 1 ON 1 - FINAL THOUGHTS)

This early 00's FIRST formula just keeps getting more rare as we now move closer to 2030 & into a generation of more severe IFRA regulations weakening the quality & strength of all perfumery houses.
Mix that with the incredible 25 year maceration time & it's virtually impossible to be able to replicate this juice again unless its made with the same ingredients today then you allow it to macerate to 2051.
Now dare I say this is one of a kind.

I cannot emphasize how rare this juice is now & will be even more so in the future.

Fair price for a collector wanting to reunite with &/or try this iconic original well preserved first formula from the house of Calvin Klein.

Just holding this bottle & observing it - you can feel its vintage charm.
Just a light sniff of the atomizer; your knees get weak & the 1990s flood your memories.

Bottle looks as if they just left the factory in 2001 so it is a time capsule from 25 years ago. Great collector's piece!
Juice sat in a dark cabinet for over 2.5 decades macerating - it's unreal how this stuff smells.

Over 2.5 decades of maceration with pre-IFRA regulation quality results in a fragrance that resembles a modern EDP

type fragrance. That means overall less sprays - & less use out of this precious bottle. With a whopping 200 ml's in this bottle in combination with its ability to shine in spring and summer - this bottle could last you a lifetime if only utilized in warm weather!

The house of Calvin Klein is basically a high tier quality house in its vintage era - now throw in higher quality pre-IFRA regulation ingredients & 2.5 years of maceration & you have truly something that can be compared today to many niche houses. Literally 2-3 sprays & you're good for an entire day.

Decent price for a collector to try this iconic original well preserved formulation!
These haven't inflated in price per ml. comparable to some other vintage perfumes out there...at least yet.
I expect these to reach even higher prices someday - that's how divine this stuff is.

Iconic grail 2001 juice - check.

Can't go wrong with this one!

At Guardian of the Fragrances,
I strive to provide you the most superior discontinued formulas that are unlike anything being sold today.
I guarantee this vintage formula surpasses anything you own & is the 'missing piece' in your fragrance collection. This long-term investment in your personal grooming arsenal will keep you elevated, boost confidence, and leave lasting impressions that last longer than this long lasting fragrance!
Satisfaction guaranteed or your money back!

International pricing disclaimer;

Unfortunately, I WILL NOT 'lower the cost' of the order to accommodate the extra expenses that come with the luxury of international shopping outside the USA.

Due to the luxury tier consensual nature of my inventory;

International shipping, import duties, taxes, and other misc. international charges are the international buyer’s responsibility. These are all additional charges that come with all international sales that I do not personally collect on.

Priority Mail International is the GOLD STANDARD & will be the only shipping utilized at my shop due speedy travel, frequent tracking scans, & its reliable delivery. Zero lost international packages to date. This service is the fastest, & the most reliable global shipping service from my postal carrier including constant tracking scans and delivery in as little as 3 weeks. There is a drastic difference and you are getting what you pay for with this pricier international shipping. If international shipping is not pricier in nature on high ticket items - then that's when you should be concerned.

By purchasing with me internationally you also acknowledge that me offering international shipment on expensive, fragile, irreplaceable, & hazardous alcohol based perfumery items is a risk and challenge I happily chose to take on to reach a global audience. This decision alone on my part is already quite generous - The vast majority of perfumery shops decline to invest into that extra difficulty.

Despite how expensive my listings may seem on top of international charges; my listings prices are studied and fairly priced for their exact selling value prior to listing. I sell for that exact sell value and don’t inflate it for room to negotiate.

Please read this disclaimer, and personally weigh out the pro’s and con’s of an international shipment with me instead of expecting me to lower the fee’s for you.

WHY PURCHASE THROUGH GUARDIAN OF THE FRAGRANCES & NOT OTHER VINTAGE VENDORS

There's a deep sense of accomplishment that comes with being of purpose for your community. Allow me the opportunity to provide this to you & be your lifelong fragrance vendor.

 FREE extra goodies with purchase

Other sellers send you the item you paid for with a sad invoice slip - feels so cold & impersonal. I go beyond that with sending you a goodie bag with purchase to make your fragrance investment more worthwhile. YOU even chose the free gift! A hand written thank you note for supporting my shop included. All items in my shop are accurately & fairly priced to reflect the value of the vintage fragrance. Special goodie bag/bonus gift are never factored into the pricing. It's truly a thank you gift.

 One-category shop

I’m not selling a mess of random various thrift items that I know nothing about. At Guardianofthefragrances; you are shopping at a niche market that specializes solely on discontinued perfumery formulations. ‘One category shops’ like mine provide customers with a unique shopping experience that is backed with knowledge & experience within that category as well as shows I have a deep passion in what I am selling. Buying from fine-tuned one category shops like mine makes all the difference in a rewarding shopping experience. That seller who has listed some sneakers, baseball cards, hoodies, & that cologne you want - he may know its authentic & well preserved, OR he may not.

 Counterfeit Investigation process

With over a decade of professional Revenue Protection expertise investigating fraud & theft for my state of WI utility provider; all vintage fragrances in my shop are expertly ran through a process of deep research which involves but is not limited to; batch runs, bottle dating, differentiating formula differences, production quirk studies, bottle & cap weighing, taking atomizer off to investigate inner hardware, fragrance strength & quality testing - how long it lasts on skin and the quality of that experience, ect. Anything that falls into my hands that doesn't pass this process never reaches my shop.

 Quality appraisal process

I am college board certified in the state of WI in Sales & Design with over 20+ years of professional practice in appraising personal property & merchandise. At guardianofthefragrances; rest assured I am expertly skilled in determining whether your vintage formula has been well preserved by previous handlers. I find the counterfeit investigation process & quality appraisal the most 2 important things in my shop to gain customer trust & I am on a mission to not let you down.

 Mutual perfumery hobbyist & collector

Most importantly, I myself am a vintage fragrance hobbyist & collector. In fact, many listings come from my own personal collection after years of collecting back-up bottles as a hobby. As a hobbyist myself, I know exactly what my shoppers are looking for & what is sorely lacking in this sector. Studying & shopping for rare fragrances for my own collection has taught me the majority of the population are NOT experts in fragrances. Its a language many don't speak like ancient Egyptian hieroglyphics. In fact; the fragrance industry is the only billion dollar industry where the customer knows the least about what they are buying. Just that it 'smells good'. You even go on a forum discussion with hobbyist's & there's more questions than answers. This phenomenon is truly astonishing to me - as I am a personality type that demands answers. At guardianofthefragrances - I have those answers for you. It’s a passion of mine to go above and beyond the ‘indifferent’ lazy fragrance knowledge on vlogger videos & forums to give you real common-sense truths that Designer houses & retails hold back from us. In fact it was poor aloof information provided to the public about fragrances that gave me the drive to launch my business in the first place.

Why should you spend SO much on a fragrance?
(I know you are asking yourself this if you are new to all this).

✅UNLOCKS STORED MEMORIES IN THE BRAINS HIPPOCAMPUS
Fragrances have an olfactory fingerprint. The brain is so intelligently designed - that it stores a fragrance DNA's composition precisely to the very last ingredient utilized at that time. Try to smell a modern formula and see what happens - it's almost as if your brain gets amnesia as what you are smelling does not match  your memories. Only that special formula composed 10-20-30-40 years ago down to the very last exact ingredient is the key to unlock vivid feelings of nostalgia.
BETTER QUALITY, INGREDIENTS, PERFORMANCE, & ARTISTRY
Made in times prior to cancel culture regulations, production politics, corporate greed, & making man made chemicals for profit; you get the authentic formula(s) the perfumery artist(s) intended from that time resulting in more naturals, less synthetic/cheap aroma chemical alternatives, richer compositions, bolder presence, more layers/less linear, and made in times where smoking was indoors- you get NUCLEAR performance.
SMELL BETTER AND OR HIGHER QUALITY THEN OTHER MEN AROUND YOU.
In a mass society unaware of vintage fragrances - you will absolutely without a doubt outshine whatever they are wearing. Gain respect, stand out, be the most attractive smelling in the room. In general this is what makes the male gender so enthralled with colognes but vintage amplifies this to the next level. Stop endless YouTube searches seeing if something modern performs - just buy vintage.
INVEST MORE IN VINTAGE TO SPEND LESS OVER TIME ON MODERN
Vintage fragrances are stronger and need less sprays due to concentration; 72% vol of alcohol (28% oils) in 1995 vs. 88% vol of alcohol (12% oils) in 2023. It's not a coincidence they are removing vol %'s on colognes nowadays - they don't want us to know how weakened they are. Many collectors go niche and get into strange off-putting DNAs not realizing they can simply go designer vintage.  Beautiful mass pleasing DNA's in the best quality and strength possible. The best way to go forward in perfumery is to go backwards.
If you buy a vintage- You will realize a bottle that would have lasted you a year is now lasting you over 2+ years. Think about it- you are going from essentially a modern day 'body spray' (Modern edt) to a powerful parfum strength niche like juice. Once you go vintage it's illogical to go back.
VINTAGE FRAGRANCES NEVER LOSE THEIR VALUE & *INCREASE* OVER TIME.
Because of the mass, devoted, & awakening population of the vintage fragrance community; vintage fragrances are a collectible commodity matching similar value in precious paintings, antiques, jewelry, gemstones, diamonds, and gold! Unlike most things you 'drive' off the lot; this fragrance will likely be MORE in 2-5-10-15 years. This is my favorite part about being a collector; my purchase investments lack buyers remorse on as I am buying an investment for the future/ and or discreet savings to liquidate as needed. It's as easy to trade fragrances for cash as it is to liquidate your cash for gold.

(Reformulation talk...)

Unfortunately,

In a modern era's effort to make the small allergen pool of the population safe for the bigger masses
(essentially a 'Safe than sorry' approach for everyone);
Harsh fragrance regulations came into effect within the last 20 years in the EU (United Nations) where nearly all fragrances are still composed.

The SCCS (Scientific Committee on Consumer Safety), IFRA (International Fragrance Association) & the ECHA (European Chemicals Agency) banded together to axe many precious naturals, and unique aroma chemicals in perfumery that have irritants to a small pool of the population.

To this day every year it seems another ingredient is banned as these chemical giants are auditing Chemistry materials on what seems like an unnecessary 'Woke movement' cancel parade. To play nice and to still get credibility for selling 'Safe' fragrances; all Designer perfumery houses have played with these giants to get full EU support of their product(s).

Between 2010-2022;
The EU has now banned over 2,000 chemicals in the body, skin, hair, & fragrance industry.
This massive chemical ban in body products is more than any other world region in history!
In comparison, the United States has banned only 17 ingredients from body products made in the USA.
Unfortunately for fragrance enthusiasts, a VERY small percentage of designers make their fragrances in America.
By 2030; the EEB (European Environmental Bureau) anticipates over 5,000-7,000 ingredients to be banned in total.

Rules, reformulations, synthetic ingredients, cost-cutting, & keeping up with modern scent trends have altered, & reduced the performance of many popular favorites from the past.
This is not a theory or paranoia, this is becoming more evident & informative in the fragrance community since the rise of fragrance communities and fragrance Vloggers.
Since this rise; vintage formulas are hunted and highly sought after by hobby-ists.

Many are so accustomed to newer compositions they have no idea what they are missing.
vintage EDT formulas are well known to perform more like intense concentrated essential oil strength NICHE EDP's.
Newer formulations of the modern age are said to perform like a end body spray with average performance but no character development.

DET Vs. DPG:
A chemist in Germany did a gas chromatogram composition breakdown on a vintage & modern day version.
It was found that companies utilized a solvent called Diethyl Phthalate (DET) on vintage versions which was known to have a stronger bonding fixative effect on the skin. Modern day fragrances are replaced with Dipropylene Glycol (DPG).
DPG is commonly utilized in lightly fragrance'd shampoos and DET is in home candles. Candle companies don't use DPG as the fragrance would immediately leave the base.
Makes you think.

The death of Oakmoss:

By far one of the most controversial and damaging IFRA regulations was the ban/limitations in natural Oakmoss. This popular ingredient is in near every legendary cologne; Davidoff Cool Water (Also reformulated), Aqua Di Gio (Also reformulated) Versace Eros (Also reformulated). Many are filled with weaker synthetics. Since Oakmoss rests in the base and has fixative effects fragrances also don't perform as well without it.

2022 Lilial ban:

And if you thought your top / mid notes were safe. You're wrong. In 2021 The Scientific committee on consumer safety (SCCS) & the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) banned the note of lilial due to its reaction to sensitive skin (That's it?).

They simply stated "It can sometimes act as an allergen." SOMETIMES?

Lilial was a common note in modern perfumery. Lilial being a synthetic aromatic soapy aldehyde;  it gave the self titled signature Versace Pour Homme it's sweet yet refreshing intense floral green odor.

I don't understand this obsession with making sure the skin doesn't react to materials. Practically every face mask on the market 'Reacts' to your skin and in the long run - improves it's appearance.

Doesn't skin strength train like muscles do?

Fragrance shelf life scam:

Reformulations are one thing, it's something that just can't be avoided.

One of the biggest gaslighting scams on the otherhand that can easily be avoided is the myth fragrances naturally 'Expire/go bad' due to time alone.

Fragrances are not your local produce guys, they are a balanced chemist composition of naturals and fragrant chemical aromas full of preservatives.

If that alone wasn't enough; that recipe is then preserved in a percentage average of 80% ALCOHOL. resulting in 'maybe' 10% natural ingredients to think 10% natural ingredients are up against and a threat against 90% chemical aromas, preservatives, and alcohol is a HUGE stretch.

Alcohol based fragrances should be compared to 50-100 year old bottles of preserved and cherished wine. Like wine, fragrances in fact get better with age from the process of maceration; when naturals soak in chemicals for extended periods of time making the juice richer and full of character. Fragrances are not fresh hand made cosmetics with no preservatives - quite the opposite.

Fragrances were even recovered from the 1912 Titanic wreck with no sign of expiring.

A perfumer perished in the wreck resulting in a sachet left behind on the BOTTOM of the ocean for over 100 years.

This sachet contained mini corked bottles of fragrant oils and perfumery. In an artifact examination room upon recovery, amongst the death, muck, tragedy, and solemn sorrow of decomposing materials the perfumery was opened up and by surprise brought the room to LIFE again, aromas of beautiful fruits, florals, resins, and woods sourced from so long ago.

The experience was so powerful to the scientist- it made a grown man cry.

Fragrances can be mishandled, left in sunlight, heat, and other neglectful extremes...but most certainly don't go bad from just the passing of time.

I guess any myth works for these fragrance industries that want you coming in to buy their 'fresh' bottles.

The modern day scent:

I say all that to say; modern day fragrances as a whole - are complete and utter trash...

whether that be a brand new composed scent or a reformulation of a classic.

The modern recipe:

Fake citrusy candy-like tops to lock you in, aromatic-mids to give you masculinity and bare minimal classic nostalgia, then a base gob-smacked with scratchy ambroxan / synthetic molecules completed with nauseating sweetness to ultimately gaslight you so don't notice how 'fake' the entire composition smells.

It's truly depressing what they release nowadays.

You might as well wear your household cleaner.

fortunately,

In every generation...
...A guardian is born.
A guardian to make the world a better place.
Now, our memories are under siege.
You may wonder..."What is happening to my cologne, and why?"

About me:

My name is Nathan,

I'm a mid-western Wisconsinite living in downtown Milwaukee. In the Midwest comes all four seasons in their highest concentrations; from Arctic temps in to heat-waves. These extremes have helped me properly test & explore a range of fragrance DNA's.

I have been a 'frag-head' my entire life; from 'Mr. Sketch' 12- pack scented markers as a child, Bath & Body products in my teens, & discovering LUSH handmade body products in my 20's. Now in my 30's; I Collect fragrance formulas from all houses & timelines to master my olfactive memory.

I have a particular passion for vintage designer fragrances due to their ability to remember our past. They are time capsules; from societal pop culture to the memories of our relatives; vintage designer fragrances are the closest humanity has came to immortality. Designer are not only more mass pleasing in general. In a world so based in science- can't think of anything more magical.

Along with this touch of magic- comes what I like to call 'pseudo-science' perfumery; the opposite of magic and time travel. There is nothing more disheartening than when our magic potions get distorted and reformulated with cheap alternatives & synthetics. This distorts our scent memory and leaves us lost and questioning our memories.

It's fascinating to me how the IFRA (International fragrance association) is allowed to influence fragrance houses to alter their compositions yet governments & administrations allow tobacco products and junk food to be sold to the public and slowly kill us.

What is even more shocking; these fragrance houses and companies not only 'obeying' these IFRA recommendations, but they are training their retail sales floors & Customer service phone reps to downright lie about such changes and misinform the public and gaslight you. This is UNACEPTABLE!

As a private investigator in Revenue Protection for over 10 years; I efficiently investigate/ validate facts, debunk fraud and confirm authenticity of the incoming product. I use this while searching and validating vintage fragrances! These scattered lost remains are a calling to me- something to rescue, revive, and guard which is where I self discovered the 'Fragrance Guardian' name.

Perfumers are artists and their compositions are works of art in their true original forms. I feel its my legacy to not only inform the fragrance community about such formulations; but keep them alive and well by providing them to the retail market & sell them to appreciative homes.

I feel my unique combination of my sales degree from the state of Wisconsin (class of 2010), 10 years of investigative experience in Revenue Protection, and a deep passion of fragrances give me an efficient, special, & trusted service in the fragrance vendor market.

As your fragrance guardian- I give your memories eternal youth.

"Buy this vintage fragrance; and your memories will never grow even one day older. Don't buy it, and continue to watch the past fade. Siempre viva - Live forever!"

(KEY BULLET DISCLAIMERS)

I am NOT an authorized dealer by the brand, I am a private fragrance vendor and eBay seller for over 20 years selling fragrances as a hobby and personal passion. I am your 1 and only seller with guardianofthefragrances.

All listings are tested, authentic, properly stored, well preserved, & suited to personal taste/ memory.

I do NOT sell fake, 'sour', or poorly cared for fragrances, nor do I buy my stock from shifty sources such as the Russian Federation. I am a collector with keen smarts and would never make such rookie mistakes in my own personal collection nor in my passionately run business.

I have been a revenue protection investigator at my main job for over a decade;
everything in my shop is inspected and tested to determine authenticity, preservation, and era of manufacture. Your final satisfaction is the ending goal while listing these fragrances. Not to make a quick buck. Anything questionable after my inspection doesn't make the cut.

The POA (Period after opening) symbol is simply a suggestion that went into effect in 2005.
Fragrances last for decades with proper storage and care.

Due to some fragrances containing more than one vintage formula & recent IFRA regulations dramatically altering modern fragrances, fragrance formulas from my shop may not match your exact memory. Properly educating yourself is a part of this fragrance hobby, jumping to accusations of my wrong doing just delays reuniting with your beloved formula desired.

Your item WILL be video packaged at my post office - from showing what's being shipped to then taken into the hands of USPS without filming cuts - I will have video proof of what I mailed to you. No funny business or return scams.

For your protection from package theft/loss, ALL fragrances from my shop purchased within the USA will require a signature upon delivery with USPS. This is not a purchased errand, this is good revenue protection paid for from my OWN pocket. If waiting at home to sign for your package is an inconvenience, you may schedule ahead to pickup the item from your local post office or arrange a digital signature online with USPS.
See your local USPS location or visit the website for further info regarding signatures.

International VAT taxes may or may NOT be automatically added to your final check out at my shop. This all depends on the country. If VAT taxes are not on your checkout order, then they will likely be billed within your local customs agency and will require you to pay it before they deliver your item to you. These are all 3rd party fees I do not collect on and are outside my control, please contact your local customs within your country for further info.
